Ever been compared to a diamond?

To you, whom I haven’t met yet but know a bit about already:
You know what’s wildly amazing? You are so incredibly special and unique. Want to know how I know? Because I know a little bit about diamonds, and they remind me of you. Can I tell you about something I learned recently? And perhaps you already knew this, I hope you’ll let me share.
Natural diamonds (not the lab-created ones) were formed billions of years ago when the Earth was much more hot. The center of the Earth was so darn hot, that the temperature reached great heights thus creating swirling gasses that thereby created pressure. What we know about pressure is that it can’t stay contained, and I bet you can guess what happened next; the magma erupted. It erupted at such high speeds that an immense amount of pressure pushed up through vertical structures, bringing with it magma. The magma cooled into mantle rocks and kimberlite.
Kimberlite, a name as cool as the thing itself, looks like this coal-like rock. From the outside it looks kind of rough, but you know something very cool about this rock? Inside it is diamonds. Unfortunately though, extracting the beautiful diamond which we are so familiar with is not a quick or easy process. It requires:
Crushing → Scrubbing → Cyclonic Separation → Recovery → Cleaning → Shaping → Polishing
And then it is packaged to be sold at your local jeweler. As we know, it is then sold for large amounts of money to be cherished for special occasions in our lives. Did you ever realize when you saw a diamond on someone, that it is actually a stone over a billion years old?
Shine on you beautiful diamond,
Alexandra
